Virtual World Journalism Conference held at WSU
Researchers are studying the importance of commercial and citizen reporting within the virtual world and will present results at an upcoming conference at Washington State University. The study, sponsored by Washington State University and the McCormick Foundation, will take place at the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication on April 6, 2010 in Pullman, WA.
The founder of Second Life Philip Rosedale as well as Club Penguin co-founder Lane Merrifield will be among presenters at the event. Also speaking will be ThinkBalm co-founder Erica Driver, CNN.com senior producer Lila King, and award-winning virtual world reporter and musican Bernhard Drax.
The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication is highly regarded among professionals and educators world-wide and is the only program in the Northwest to offer programs in all six communication fields.
The McCormick Foundation is one of the nation’s largest charities, with $1.2 billion in assets. Founded by the long-time editor of the Chicago Tribune, the foundation seeks to stimulate more active and engaged lifestyles.
